This is an excellent wool to spin as part of your journey as a spinner and your intentional breed study. Sourced from an award winning stud Jurambula located in NSW, this Lincoln long wool should be spun with some concentration - if you spin with too much twist, you can easily find you have spun some rope. This is an excellent fibre for rug making or weaving, and has a beautiful halo when finished properly. About this fibre: Raised by a family with a deep love for rare breed sheep and grown on a sustainable / permaculture focused property. Helen Raven has been breeding Hampshire Down sheep since 2002. Jess, Helen's daughter, has had Lincolns since 2008. Though the property has had Cheviots, in 2015 they decided to focus on just two rare breed studs.
According to the Rare Breeds Trust of Australia, the current status of Lincoln sheep is CRITICAL. You can see some pictures of this award winning breed here and find more info here.
