The Lucky Ewe specialises in small batch hand dyed yarn and fleece. Hand dyed update coming soon.

Hand dyed non-superwash bases sourced from ethical wool growers located in Australia and New Zealand.

Every hand dyed yarn in the Mavis's Worth Every Stitch line requires slightly more care than yarn of the superwash variety. While we love the bright colours and speckled yarns in our superwash range, we really love a beautifully soft and natural wool

These non-superwash yarns should be washed by hand in cool or slightly tepid water. Luckily for us, non-superwash yarn naturally retains the ability to create a strong bio-film and reduce the need for frequent washing. If your woolen jumper or cardigan starts to get a bit whiffy, a good airing out in the sunshine will freshen your garment up. Use a soft brush to remove any dropped crumbs or food. ALL of your knits (regardless of fibre) should be washed at the end of the season, prior to storing away.

Hand knit socks made with wool will need to be washed more often. To prolong the life of your hand knit socks, don't wear the same socks every day, rotate your sock collection. At the end of the week, fill your bathroom basin with tepid water, add a squirt of a good fibre wash (we recommend Unicorn Fibre Wash) and let soak for 30 minutes. Rinse, squeeze the excess water from your socks and lay flat to dry.  I have to admit that some of my hand knit socks do go in the washing machine on a gentle cold water cycle, and have survived. I can not make the same statement about socks that went into a clothes dryer.
