Led by South Australian teacher and designer Pru Raymond ("Dear Pru"), you have your choice of workshops (or take them all!) 

Join us as we celebrate the opening of our new studio! 

Heaps of Steeks takes place on Sunday 23 March 2025 [9:30 am - 12:30 pm]

Morning tea included. 

Learn to slice your knitting open with Pru Raymond. Explore techniques for finished, unfinished and sandwiched steeks and develop insights about when to use which one. Leave the class with confidence to modify existing garments and undertake stranded colourwork projects that require steeking 

Because there is pre-work, there will be kits for this workshop are available for pre-purchase only. Give yourself plenty of time to order a kit and complete your pre work prior to the workshop. 

Materials Required: 

  • 4mm / 6 US  80 cm circular knitting needles or dpns
  • 2 x 50g 8ply/DK yarn in solid / semi solid colours with a high contrast [i.e one white/very light coloured yarn and one mid/mid-dark coloured yarn
  • Wool needle, stitch markers, scissors
  • Skill level: Intermediate to advanced knitters who want to learn how to steek their knitting, including multiple ways to reinforce and finish the steeked edge. In order to complete the homework, there is an expectation that you can independently read a Fair Isle / colourwork chart and knit two stranded colourwork swatches in the round.

Homework

  • 2 stranded colourwork swatches, using two colours of DK on 4 mm circular needle with 80cm circumference or DPNs, worked in the round. Instructions will be emailed to participants
