Here at The Lucky Ewe we strive to provide you with the best wool available, and in our search for locally grown wool we have found this which comes to us from New Zealand.  This yarn is 100% traceable and starts out it's journey in the foothills of South Canterbury, New Zealand. The natural colours of this wool make it an indie dyers dream, and the worsted spun wool means it will produce a soft yet durable garment. 

NB: This is a non superwash wool. Please care for it accordingly. This is a limited product. 

21.2 Micron Worsted Spun 100% Haunui Wool

Double Knit Yarn, 4 fold, approx. 210 metres/100 grams

How are the colours created?
This wool is 100% grown and processed in New Zealand. The sheep have been bred for their stunning colours since the 1980s. There is no white or other coloured wool blended to create shades. Like fine wine, every season can be different so no collection will be 100% the same as the previous year.

How  are the sheep cared for?
Haunui sheep live a natural life outside in large paddocks all year round.
They graze grass and legumes during Spring to Autumn.
Over Winter they graze Kale with supplementary hay or baleage for added fibre. Haunui is certified by the New Zealand Farm Assurance Program and Responsible Wool Standard (Haunui Wool products can't be sold under this due to their processors not being registered). This provides assurance regarding integrity, traceability, animal health and welfare, people, farm, natural resources and biosecurity.
