About the event
St. Distaff Day is a medieval English joke as Saint Distaff never existed. But 7 January was an unofficial medieval celebration, observed the day that women went back to household work after twelve days of celebrating Christmas. Men returned to work on the Monday (sometimes called Plough Monday) immediately following St. Distaff day.
Nowadays, we just like an excuse to get together outside in beautiful surroundings and have a day of spinning.
Bring your chair, your spinning wheel or spindle and some sunscreen. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the lovely garden at The Lucky Ewe.
