About the event
Learn how to knit a Top-down jumper!
This class will guide you through all of the steps of knitting a top-down jumper. We will use the Flax pattern by Tin Can Knits. It’s free and sizes range from newborn to 7XL. We recommend knitting the 1-2-year-old size during class.
Perfect for new knitters, you do need to know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and knit in the round using a 16” circular needle, and for the small circumferences: double-pointed needles or magic loop.
Supplies required prior to the start of class:
- Worsted Weight Yarn: recommendations include Juniper Moon's Santa Cruz Organic Merino, Malabrigo Rios, The Lucky Ewe's Hand dyed White Gum Wool 10 Ply, and White Gum Wool's 10 ply/Worsted Weight yarn. You will need 285 metres for the 1 - 2 year old size. See pattern for yardage for other sizes.
- US 6 (4.0 mm) and US 8 (5.0 mm) needles. See pattern for recommendations.
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Waste yarn
- Scissors
- Pen and/or highlighter pen
- Measuring tape
Class begins at 10:30, giving you enough time to pick up supplies before class.
